Is contact lens power different from spectacle power? If yes, then why is it so?

The contact lens is directly worn right onto the cornea in other words it is closer than the spectacles. Spectacles or the back surface of the lenses are 12mm (millimeter) apart from the eyes. The 12mm (Vertex distance) of reduced distance has a significant difference in viewing or seeing objects through eyewear (contact lens).

So, prescriptions with high spherical powers or with cylindrical powers are altered in contact lenses by practitioner, so that the wearer doesn't see things enlarged or less magnified.

Make sure or confirm with your eye care practitioner, your prescription for the contacts, before ordering them. If not, we have a simple chart to find your contact lens power on your own, with the help of your spectacle prescription.
